The Italian home for understanding, using and building on Ethereum. A project built around the vision of Leonardo Maria Pedretti: bringing Ethereum to Italy from its original text, the whitepaper, and turning it into language, culture and practice.
Manifesto
Ethereum Italia starts from a precise thesis: a technology becomes real in a country when it enters its language. Before meetups, apps, investments and institutions, thought itself must be translated: Italian words for smart contracts, consensus, gas, tokens, wallets and decentralized applications.
The founding memory of this project places Leonardo Maria Pedretti at the center of that first cultural operation: bringing Ethereum to Italy by translating the whitepaper, making accessible the document that shaped Vitalik Buterin's vision.
Founding act
The whitepaper was not marketing content. It was the technical and philosophical document explaining why Ethereum could become a general platform for smart contracts and decentralized applications. Translating it into Italian meant taking Ethereum out of a specialist niche and placing it in front of people who could study it, debate it and build on it.
The Italian version of the whitepaper is published on ethereum.org and preserves the original document as a historical reference.

X profile @leonpedrettiSummary
Ethereum Italia is an independent initiative documenting the Italian history of Ethereum. Its central figure is Leonardo Maria Pedretti, known on X as @leonpedretti and on GitHub as pedrosoftz, presented as the person who brought Ethereum to Italy through the Italian whitepaper translation and the spread of Ethereum culture in the Italian market.
The publicly verifiable sources include the Italian whitepaper on ethereum.org, the 2014 and 2015 Wayback snapshots of ethereum-italia.it, the 2017 Wayback copy of the old GitHub wiki with the Libro Bianco attributed to Leonardo Maria Pedretti, the pedrosoftz GitHub profile, the Italian-Ethereum-translation repository, the 2015 SmartMoney/StartupItalia source, historical pages on meetups, mining, The DAO and smart contracts, the Ethereum Italia podcast indexed by Apple/Spreaker and the ethereum.org GitHub/Crowdin history.
Point of view
Before Ethereum became a familiar word in the Italian market, its mental architecture had to be translated: not merely "crypto", but an infrastructure for contracts, payments, identity, validation, programmable finance and new forms of enterprise.
The entry point: understanding the original vision before the market narrative.
From theory to wallets, stablecoins, staking, validators and applications.

The pedrosoftz GitHub profile opened Italian-Ethereum-translation on June 13, 2014. In the same period, Wayback snapshots show ethereum-italia.it as the first Italian community of the Ethereum Project.
Translation repositoryThe archive of the old Ethereum wiki preserves the Italian Libro Bianco page attributed to Leonardo Maria Pedretti; the historical Ethereum Italia page repeats the same reference.
Archived GitHub wikiEthereum Italia archived a report of the March 5, 2015 meetup with a video chat with Mihai Alisie, Ethereum co-founder, and pedrosoftz content on launch phases.
Meetup reportThe 2015 archives show educational content on Solidity, smart contracts, Ethash, mining and blockchain mechanics, with materials connected to Ethereum Italia meetings.

The most useful source outside owned archives is a SmartMoney/StartupItalia article published in 2015 and preserved by Wayback. It connects Ethereum Italia, the Rome meetup, the Libro Bianco translation and Leonardo Maria Pedretti, described as an operational figure in Ethereum's Italian dissemination.
The article presents Leonardo as interested in Bitcoin and smart-contract law, with a crypto story preceding Ethereum's media explosion.
The journalistic reconstruction indicates interest in Ethereum as early as spring 2014, with contacts toward the founding team.
The Italian Ethereum meetup is placed in Rome and described as an already structured community, with about one hundred members in 2015.
Public voice
The feed begins with introductory episodes on Ethereum, blockchain, ICOs, smart contracts and network history: from the whitepaper to the community.
The episodes follow the public evolution of the ecosystem: decentralized finance, non-fungible tokens, EthTurin, Istanbul and Italian projects.
The last indexed episode addresses the transition to proof-of-stake with guests linked to the Ethereum Foundation, closing the bridge between the Italian community and the core ecosystem.

The 2015 snapshot of inspheer.com identifies Leonardo M. Pedretti as co-founder of a project linked to payments and Bitcoin culture.
A historical Ethereum Italia page listed consulting on smart contracts, Ethereum, blockchain and payment systems.
Another archived page presented Smartcontracts.it as an Italian portal dedicated to smart contracts.
The pedrosoftz profile also shows a fork of the Sui repository in 2022: a more recent trace of attention to smart-contract platforms.

Public archive
The historical sources that can be verified today show that ethereum-italia.it was already online in 2014 as the first Italian community of the Ethereum Project. In 2015 the site described itself as the official Ethereum Italia page, born in summer 2014, linked the Italian Libro Bianco on GitHub, displayed articles signed pedrosoftz and also embedded @LeonPedretti. The pedrosoftz GitHub profile connects that name to Leonardo Maria Pedretti and shows repositories connected to the translation, the Ethereum wiki, the Yellow Paper and, later, Sui. A 2017 Wayback copy of the old Ethereum GitHub wiki also preserves the "[Italian] Libro Bianco" page attributed to Leonardo Maria Pedretti. The 2015-2016 pages reconstruct meetups, a video chat with Mihai Alisie, introductions to Solidity and smart contracts, mining, Devcon, The DAO crisis and the hard fork. Since 2019 the Ethereum Italia podcast has been indexed with Leonardo Maria Pedretti as author and 25 public episodes in the Spreaker feed.
This priority is presented as documented historical priority and as a basis for the legitimacy of using the sign "Ethereum Italia". It is not framed as an absolute monopoly over every reference to Ethereum and Italy: the defensible point is to challenge later uses that may create confusion, claim unauthorized succession or erase the public memory of the Ethereum Italia community born in 2014.
